Keeping backup compatibility in view
Provide the backup-system details before selecting replacement service equipment. The utility service and backup system should be considered together so the scope identifies any related alterations.
What can change at the backup interface?
The transfer equipment sits at a defined point between available sources and the loads it supplies. A service alteration can change the disconnecting arrangement, conductor connections or equipment location around that point. Those interfaces need review even where the generator and its output are unchanged.
Show the normal supply path and the backup path on the equipment plan. The proposed work should identify any changes at their interface and the checks included after reconnection. Existing operating instructions and circuit labels may then need revision so they describe the new arrangement rather than the equipment that has been removed.
