Replacing equipment with different electrical needs
Compare the old and new specifications before assuming that the existing circuit can be reused. Installation pricing should distinguish the appliance connection from any necessary circuit changes.
Provide the complete product identification, including any installation documentation supplied with the appliance. A brand name alone may cover models with different connection requirements.
When is a replacement more than reconnection?
Voltage, connection method and manufacturer requirements can differ between appliances with similar appearances. Reusing a connection therefore depends on the actual product and condition of the supplying circuit, not just whether the plug seems familiar.
The work may be a suitable reconnection, a circuit alteration or a new supply. A useful proposal identifies which of those is being priced and whether removal or retirement of the previous connection is included.
