Rough wiring before the walls close
Use the current cabinet and room plans, then identify decisions that remain provisional. Electrical rough work should follow the intended finished arrangement rather than an outdated drawing.
Flag items still awaiting a cabinet or fixture decision. A provisional position can be discussed, but it should remain distinguishable from an approved rough-wiring location.
What should be settled before close-in?
Rough wiring establishes pathways and connection locations that become harder to change behind finished surfaces. Appliance clearances, cabinet depths and door swings can move useful device positions even when the room's overall dimensions remain unchanged.
A coordinated layout gives the contractor a basis for staging wiring, required inspections and finish work. Unresolved selections should remain identifiable rather than being treated as approved locations simply because construction is moving ahead.
