Additions & Home Renovations from MKB Electric LLC

MKB Electric provides electrical planning and installation for additions, remodels and larger residential renovation projects, including new circuits, lighting, equipment feeds, panels and service-capacity planning.

Renovation work is where experience matters. Existing wiring, new loads and the finished layout all have to work together, so MKB Electric approaches the electrical scope as a complete system rather than a collection of isolated repairs.

Plan the electrical work before access closes

An addition or renovation changes how a home is used, not just where a few outlets are located. MKB Electric can discuss the electrical work alongside the room layout, selected equipment and the areas that will remain occupied during construction. A useful starting point is the latest plan, with lighting, switches, receptacles and equipment locations marked clearly.

Identify which walls and ceilings will be open and which finishes will stay. The available route back to the panel can affect the work outside the renovated room. A new circuit, a subpanel and a service upgrade solve different problems; the proposal should explain which work is justified by the actual project.

Information that helps define the proposal

Bring appliance and HVAC specifications, the construction sequence and any confirmed future equipment. Separate work needed for this phase from optional provisions for later. Ask how rough wiring, equipment connections and any required checks fit the other trades, and identify responsibility for access, patching and finish work before the scope is finalized.

Plan the electrical stages with the finished project

Renovation wiring connects the finished layout to the equipment the space will use. Lighting, switching, receptacles and appliance connections need coordination with cabinetry, doors and mechanical systems. A room's floor area or fixture count alone does not describe the complete electrical scope.

Use the latest plan and selected equipment instructions, identifying what stays and what changes. Routes through existing finished areas can affect work outside the renovation itself. Separate rough wiring, final connections and any related panel or service work. Discuss applicable permit and inspection steps before close-in, and identify who handles access, equipment supply and finish restoration so construction stages do not conceal unresolved electrical decisions.

Service-specific questions

What should be decided before rough wiring is closed?

Current device positions, confirmed equipment requirements and any decisions affecting concealed connections or access. Applicable project checks also need coordination before finishes close the work.

Does a renovation automatically require a service upgrade?

No. The existing installation and proposed loads need evaluation. Circuit work, panel changes and overall capacity decisions should be explained separately.

What if concealed conditions differ from the estimate assumptions?

The findings and proposed correction should be explained, with any changed scope identified before further work is authorized. Do not assume every hidden condition has the same remedy.
