Separating equipment supplies from control wiring
Identify the connections each installer expects. The scope should distinguish equipment supply circuits from thermostats, control interconnections and manufacturer-supplied harnesses, rather than assume providing power completes every part of the wiring.
Provide each trade's equipment instructions and identify responsibility for startup or testing. A clear connection list can prevent gaps between separate installation estimates.
Why is supplying power only one step?
Mechanical equipment may rely on control wiring between several components as well as a branch-circuit supply. Different installers can be responsible for those connections, depending on the product and agreed scope.
A connection schedule should identify the power endpoint, control interfaces and responsibility for startup. This helps avoid a situation where each trade has finished its quoted work but an essential link between components remains unassigned.
