Replacing an improvised generator connection
A suitable transfer arrangement is central to separating generator and utility power. Correcting the connection should be discussed as a defined installation rather than relying on adapters or an assumed standard inlet swap.
Provide the generator's manufacturer connection information where available. A familiar plug shape alone does not establish the suitability of the complete proposed backup arrangement.
Why is an inlet not the whole system?
A building connection needs appropriate transfer equipment to keep generator and utility supplies properly separated. A plug or exterior connection alone does not establish that arrangement.
Have the complete existing setup evaluated rather than adapting an improvised connection. The scope should identify the inlet, transfer-related work and selected loads, with generator operating placement considered separately from convenient connection access.
